Pick the piece
Any piece in the shop can carry an engraving: a wall hook by the front door, a shelf over a desk, a holder in the guest bathroom. Choose the size and the finish first. The words come next.

Open Personalize this piece
Under the buy button sits a quiet switch named Personalize this piece. It unfolds two fields: one for the engraving, one for special requests. Leave it closed and your piece stays exactly as configured; nothing is added.

Type up to 40 characters
Initials, a name, a date, coordinates. The text joins your order word for word, and a flat 19 EUR engraving fee is added next to the piece in your cart, so the full price is visible before checkout.

We make it, then ship it
Cutting, welding, powder coating, and the engraving all happen in our workshop in Slovakia. The piece is checked, packed, and shipped, and it carries a two-year guarantee like everything we make.
What fits in 40 characters
What people put into steel
The engraving field takes up to 40 characters. That is enough for most of the things that matter.
- Initials two or three letters where only you will look for them
- A date a wedding, a move-in day, the morning the dog arrived
- Coordinates of a first flat, a hometown, the family cottage
- A short line an inside joke, a lyric, a quiet thank you
- A name on a child's bedroom shelf, or the hook that is finally theirs
- A logo engraved for cafes, studios, and offices, placed from your vector file through a commission
The mark
In the steel, not on it
An engraving is not print. The mark is cut into the powder coated steel, so it reads as edge and shadow, and it cannot peel, rub off, or fade.
Keep it small and private, initials in a corner, or make it the point, a logo across the face of the piece. Say where you want it in the special requests field and we confirm feasibility before we make it.
Gifts
The eleventh anniversary is steel
Steel marks the eleventh wedding anniversary, and an engraved date has a longer life than most gifts bought the week before. A shelf with a name becomes the child's shelf. A hook with a name ends the argument about whose coat goes where.
And when the gift should be a shape we do not stock, a symbol, a family tree, a piece sized to one exact wall, start a commission and we build the piece around the engraving.
Adding engraving
How do I personalize an ATYP piece?
Open the product page of any piece, choose the size and finish, then use the Personalize this piece switch under the buy button. Type up to 40 characters of engraving, add any special request, and add to cart as usual. The text travels with your order to the workshop.
How much does engraving cost?
A flat 19 EUR per piece. The fee appears as its own line in your cart the moment you enter engraving text, so you see the full price before checkout. The fee is the same whatever you write within the 40 characters.
What can the engraving say?
Up to 40 characters of text: initials, names, dates, coordinates, or a short message. For a symbol, a specific placement, or anything beyond text, use the special requests field and we confirm feasibility and any extra cost before we make it.
Logos and bigger ideas
Can you engrave a logo?
Yes. Send a vector file of your logo or symbol through a commission enquiry and we place it in the design preview at exact size and position, for a single piece or a whole batch.
Can I see the engraving before it is cut?
On a commission, yes. The engraving artwork is part of the design preview you approve before production starts, and nothing is cut until you approve it. Within two weeks of your enquiry you have the preview and a quote in your inbox.
I want a different size or shape, not just words
Then commission the piece. Give us the measurements, the finish, the engraving, and the wall it goes on in one enquiry. You receive a design visualization within two weeks, production takes 3 to 5 weeks from your approval, and nothing is cut before you approve.
The practical part
How long until a personalized piece arrives?
Made to order pieces are cut, welded, powder coated, checked, and shipped in 3 to 5 weeks; pieces in stock ship within 5 working days. If your date is fixed, say so in the special requests field and we confirm what is possible before we make it.
Does the guarantee cover an engraved piece?
Yes. Every ATYP piece carries the same two-year guarantee, engraved or not, covering the steel, the welds, and the powder coated surface in normal use. If a piece fails within two years, we repair or replace it.
Which finishes can be engraved?
All five workshop finishes: Chalk RAL 9016 matte, Linen RAL 1019 matte, Slate RAL 7016 structure, Umber RAL 8022 structure, and Graphite RAL 9005 structure. On a commission you can also name any other RAL code and we mix it.
